7th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM  ON EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN GEOLOGY

The Organizing Committee warmly welcome your participation in the Seventh International Symposium on the Geology of the Eastern Mediterranean which will be held at Cukurova University, Adana, Turkey, on 18th-22nd October 2010 and the committee invites submissions for presentations.
Since 1992, the Eastern Mediterranean Symposium has been held periodically at venues across Europe and Asia. From the first conference, which was held in Adana (Turkey) in 1992, the event has been staged in Jerusalem (Israel-1995), Nicosia (Cyprus-1998), Isparta (Turkey-2001), Thessaloniki (Grece-2004)and Amman (Jordan-2007).
Over the years the Eastern Mediterranean Symposium has been a major forum for scientists, engineers and other proffessionals and has provided many opportunities for experts to exchange their ideas and knowledge on diversified geology of the Mediterranean. During the symposium, the latest research in geology, geophysics and mining on both sides of the Mediterranean Sea will be presented and discussed in an intimate and cordial atmosphere.
The Symposium will cover the entire spectrum of the Earth Sciences and a non-exclusive list of topics to be covered includes:
 
  • General Geology: Marine geology, Neotectonics, Oceanography, Palaeontology, Physical geography, Quaternary geology, Remote sensing, Sedimentology, Speleology, Stratigraphy, Structural Geology, Tectonics
  • Engineering and Environmental Geology: Engineering geology, Geological Risks, Hydrogeology, Natural hazards, Rock mechanics, Soil mechanics, Urban geology
  • Mineralogy and Petrography: Geoarchaeology, Geochemistry, Geochronology, Industrial rocks and minerals, Mineralogy, Mineral exploration, Crystallography, Ore deposits, Petrology
  • Energy Resources : Geothermal energy, Renewable Energy
  • Geophysics: General geophysics, Marine geophysics, Seismology
  • Other related topics
 
The above mentioned main topics will be modified and new ones will be added depending on the submissions and this symposium is open to all those interested in the geology of the Eastern Mediterranean region and its surroundings.
